How to make a fee receipt
For schools, coaching centres and tutors: one receipt per payment with the months it covers, every fee head, concessions and any balance due.
Step by step
- Your institute once. Name, address, phone, affiliation or registration number, GSTIN if a registered coaching centre.
- The student. Name, parent, phone, class, section, roll number; saved students come up as you type.
- The months. From and up to which month (three for quarterly, twelve for yearly).
- Fee heads. Tuition, transport, exam, late fee…; concession or scholarship; previous dues.
- What was received. Empty when all is paid; a part payment shows the balance due.
- Save, print or share. Student and office copies on A5, or the PDF on WhatsApp. Next month: Next receipt.
Worked example
Class 7, July–September: tuition ₹2,500 × 3 = ₹7,500, transport ₹900 × 3 = ₹2,700, sibling concession ₹750. Total ₹9,450; paid ₹6,000; balance ₹3,450 carried as previous dues next time.
Rules and dates
Education up to higher secondary by a school is exempt from GST; private coaching is taxable at 18% once yearly fees cross the registration limit (₹20 lakh, ₹10 lakh in special category states).
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Typing previous dues by hand every time. Use Next receipt: months and dues move forward.
